DAY 3: Isaiah 3-4:1

Day 3

Poor Leadership and the Lord’s Judgement: Ch 3-4:1

In this chapter the Lord is pictured in two ways, firstly, as a warrior (v1 RSV translates it as ‘Lord of Hosts’ where hosts means armies) and secondly in v13, as the judge presiding over a court.

In verses 1-12, what picture do we get about what is happening in Jerusalem? What is the leadership like?

In the second half of this chapter, we see the judgment that the Lord will bring on the leaders (v13-15) and their wives (3:16-4:1). Why would the Lord judge both the leaders and their wives? What is the connection between the leaders and their wives?

NB: It is worth noting the glimmer of hope for the righteous amongst what is happening in v3:10
