DAY 3: Acts 2:1-13

The Spirit Comes as Promised - Acts 2:1-13

Pentecost, known as the Feast of Weeks, was celebrated 50 days after the grain was first harvested (see Deut 16:9-12 and Lev 23:15-16). In practice the feast occurred 50 days after Passover. Although the original intention of the feast was to rejoice in God’s redemption and provision of food, after the exile it was used to commemorate the day God gave the Torah to Israel at Mt Sinai. It was a day when Jews from far away gathered in Jerusalem (see Deut 16:16 and Acts 2:5).

Read 1:8 and 1:22b again. What should we expect now from the Apostles?

The many ‘people groups’ described in 9-11 give a foretaste of the eventual spread of the gospel. How has God worked by his Spirit to bring the gospel to you?

Today’s Prayer Suggestion:
1. After reading today’s passage, what’s one thing you can praise God for? What does it prompt you to ask Him for in prayer?

2. Linda McKerrell: Pray for the upcoming OMF QLD Conference (2 August) — that it would raise up new workers and stir fresh commitment to cross-cultural mission.

3. Good News Week is coming. Pray for your 3!
